Description:
GENERAL MEETING Linda Castro of CalWild on Lands Protected by DRECP
Linda Castro started with the California Wilderness Coalition (CalWild) in 2014 and now serves as its Assistant Policy Director. She is based in southern California. Linda obtained her Bachelor’s degree from Trinity University in San Antonio, Texas, and then moved to California and obtained her Juris Doctor degree from Whittier Law School. She practiced law for years for a non-profit in southern California. However, conservation was always her passion – and she is now much happier, having landed her dream job with CalWild. Linda lives with her family in the San Fernando Valley and is an avid tent camper, hiker, and amateur nature photographer. Here is what she will talk about: Some places in the West Mojave that were protected by the BLM's Desert Renewable Energy Conservation Plan (DRECP) that you may not be familiar with, why they're once again threatened, and what you can do about it.
